Moving to Medium!

Ever since medium.com came, most of the people I know started to write blog posts in medium. So, I also wanted to try it out and see how it works! My medium.com page is https://medium.com/@chrishantha/ and I already wrote one story in the last year. I really liked the editor in Medium and I don't have to worry how my story will look when I publish it. This is the main problem I have with blogger. I have to "preview" my post to make sure it looks fine. Especially when I have code snippets. This is not really a problem of the Blogger platform. It's a problem as I use a third-party syntax highlighter. I'm really disappointed that I didn't spend time to write more posts. My last blog post on Blogger was more than a year ago! There were many personal reasons for not writing blog posts. Anyway, now I want to start writing again and I will continue to write on Medium. I'm also planning to link my Medium stories from this blog. Thank you for reading! :) ...

Demystifying OSGi - Java Colombo Meetup - 24 January 2013

The 6th Java Colombo Meetup [1] was held on 24th January 2013 (Last Thursday) at WSO2 premises. The topic on that day was "Demystifying OSGi" and it was presented by Sameera Jayasoma and Pradeep Fernando. It was the second time I participated for this meetup. Both Sameera ( @sameerajayasoma ) and Pradeep ( @pradeepfn ) presented really well and they answered every question asked. I joined WSO2 recently and we also had internal training sessions on OSGi & OSGi-based WSO2 Carbon Platform [2]. I would say Sameera and Pradeep are experts on OSGi. Following is the presentation. You can also go through it to get an idea of OSGi. Demistifying OSGi - Colombo Java Meetup 2013 from Sameera Jayasoma I must also thank Prabath ( @prabath ) for organizing the Java Colombo Meetup and I admire his effort to bring the Sri Lankan Java developer community together. Here are some photos of the event! Next Meetup: The next meetup [3] will be the 1st Anniv...

Filling the gap!!

So, my last blog post is back in 2009!! So many things happened in my life last few years. Here are some highlights: 2010 July, 2010: Moved to Habarakada, Sri Lanka. October, 2010: Participated to APICTA 2010 Malaysia with my manager. The InfoTrack product we presented there won the Gold Award at NBQSA 2010 in the commercial R&D category and won Silver overall. December, 2010: Bought Sony Ericsson Vivaz! My first smartphone! 2011 April, 2011: Sri Lanka lost in ICC World cup 2011 final. It was a very sad day! July, 2011: I was offered Associate Tech Lead position at Informatics International Limited October, 2011: Graduated with First Class Honors in BSc (Hons) Software Engineering from the Informatics Institute of Technology, Sri Lanka whic...

Back to blogging.. Exactly one year after

Image
I always wanted to keep my blog up to date, but as you can see, I couldn't do it. :D Twitter is one of the reasons for not blogging recently. I joined Twitter exactly 555 days ago and now I'm addicted to it. I didn't use it frequently after I joined, but now Twitter is one of the first things I check when I start the computer. It all started in the month of April , when I was doing a coursework. So many things happened in this year. In this year also, our batch went to Nuwara-eliya in July. This time we spent two nights there and had a great time. We enjoyed a lot! :D I also got a chance to go to India in August. Me and my friend went to Bangalore to present a paper for International Workshop on Technology for Education (T4E'09). See my diGIT article for more details. diGIT ? yes! It is an online IT magazine and it was a great opportunity for me to contribute. I got to know the editor-in-chief of diGIT, Mr. Gihan via Twitter. I thank Gihan for giving me the opportun...

Vacation!

I have been waiting for almost 2 years to create a blog.. and finally my dream came true.. Yes! it's vacation! I had so many plans after I completed the exam in June. I was bit scared about the exam as I couldn't try my best at the exam. I got my results this month and I'm happy about my marks. One of my plans was to create my own blog.. I'm very much inspired by some of my friends' blogs and I wanted my own blog badly. Actually, I'm writing this post after 19 days creating this blog. I didn't get much "free time" as expected. These days I'm very busy with my office work. Sometimes, I fed up with programming, as I'm staring at the monitor 10 hours per day! But I enjoy what I'm doing. These days we're developing a web application using ICEfaces , Spring and Websphere eXtreme Scale . Working with new technology is always very interesting. But I'm exhausted..... Best thing happened in this vacation was our batch trip. We all went ...
