Vacation!

I have been waiting for almost 2 years to create a blog.. and finally my dream came true..

Yes! it's vacation! I had so many plans after I completed the exam in June. I was bit scared about the exam as I couldn't try my best at the exam. I got my results this month and I'm happy about my marks.

One of my plans was to create my own blog.. I'm very much inspired by some of my friends' blogs and I wanted my own blog badly. Actually, I'm writing this post after 19 days creating this blog.

I didn't get much "free time" as expected. These days I'm very busy with my office work. Sometimes, I fed up with programming, as I'm staring at the monitor 10 hours per day! But I enjoy what I'm doing. These days we're developing a web application using ICEfaces, Spring and Websphere eXtreme Scale. Working with new technology is always very interesting. But I'm exhausted.....

Best thing happened in this vacation was our batch trip. We all went to Nuwara-eliya on 19th July and came back on 20th. It was the first night I spent alone outside home. Nuwara-eliya is always a best place for a holiday.

Best moment was the time I spent near the "lake", which was near the bungalow we stayed.

It was very cold and drizzling.. and water coming with the wind from lake.. wow.. it was a great experience.

I wish I could spend more time there..

We all had so much fun... and it was a great trip!

I must thank all my friends for encouraging me to join the trip.. Special thanks for the organizers of the trip........

Java Flight Recorder Continuous Recordings

When we are trying to find performance issues, it is sometimes necessary to do continuous recordings with Java Flight Recorder. Usually we debug issues in an environment similar to a production setup. That means we don't have a desktop environment and we cannot use Java Mission Control for flight recording. That also means we need to record & get dumps using command line in servers. We can of course use remote connection methods, but it's more easier to get recordings from the server. With continuous recordings, we need to figure out how to get dumps. There are few options. Get a dump when the Java application exits. For this, we need to use dumponexit and dumponexitpath options. Get a dump manually from JFR.dump diagnostic command via " jcmd " Note: The "jcmd" command is in $JAVA_HOME/bin.
